This is a school house located in Järfälla kommun, Sweden. In this project, coordination between different project participants played a key role, which was achieved through the use of the Trimble Connect platform. The project was completed within the scheduled phases in the shortest possible time. During the project, enhanced fire safety and sound insulation requirements were imposed on the structures. Due to the fire safety requirements, concealed connections were used for the glued laminated timber elements.
Main Part Design OÜ was responsible for:
Development of the structural BIM model
Production of detailed construction and manufacturing documentation
Including CNC files in BVN/BVX format for Hundegger cutting machines
Structural Overview
Load-bearing exterior and interior walls
The house stiffness is based on wooden frame elements which use plywood boards as stiffening materials
The glulam frames are designed because of the lack of shear walls at axis 105-106, M-P for carrying wind loads
Modeling, Calculation & Coordination Tools 📐
Modeling: Tekla Structures
Calculations: Dlubal RFEM 6
Coordination: Trimble Connect, which facilitated collaboration between project participants and helped meet deadlines set by both the manufacturer and the client
In-house Tools Utilized: The following self-developed plugins were used to optimize modeling and documentation processes (available on Tekla Warehouse): MPD EDIT, MPD Timber Frame, Glulam Connections, and MPD QR Code.
